About Us
Our Company
Stelfast has been an industry leader in fasteners for many years. Our company began in its operations in 1972 as a small and progressive manufacturer of industrial gears and screw machine products. Originally known as Eses Limited, Stelfast did not sell its first quarter keg of nuts until 1974. Seeing the need in the market for a reliable and quality oriented fastener company, Stelfast incorporated in 1976 and established operations in Cleveland, Ohio USA and Toronto, Ontario Canada. Today, Stelfast Inc. is a leading importer; stocking master distributor of fasteners and specialty parts from Asia, Europe, and South America (from standard commercial items to special parts per print); and manufacturer of truck and specialty fasteners.
With a knowledgeable and dedicated team of employees, Stelfast has expanded to ten regional distribution centers across North America. Stelfast is a family owned and operated company. We offer over 12,000 SKU's of fastener products direct from stock, including many lines of bolts, cap screws, nuts, screws, and washers in variety of finishes. We offer per print, specials, and standards either direct from mill, cross dock, or stock and release.
Core Values
Everyone on the Stelfast team is committed to the customer’s satisfaction, regardless of whether they deal directly with customers or suppliers. Our fastener distributors can rely on everyone—from the sales representative to the purchasing director to the president of the company— to respond to their needs. That’s hard to measure and it is certainly rare. But in the end, our effort is about creating value, and value is certainly a measure important to our customers.
Stelfast has flourished by taking the time to understand its customers’ needs and to provide timely, cost-effective solutions. Foresight and flexibility have been the company’s trademarks, foreseeing market trends and moving faster than others to take ownership of technologies, sourcing partnerships, service trends, and even people power.
Get it Done
Today’s fastener distributors need to provide value-added services. Very early in its history, Stelfast understood this need. Known then mainly as a manufacturer, we recognized where the market was going in terms of the shift to overseas manufacturing. Stelfast remains committed to growth through service and flexibility. Since its early years, Stelfast has expanded to include an automotive division and opened ten branch operations. As the company has grown and established its operating guidelines, Stelfast President, Simmi Sakhuja has seen her role evolve into oversight of all divisions as well as maintaining and nurturing relationships with suppliers. “I am very involved in the day-to-day operations of the company. When I am not doing my duties as president, if I need to answer phones, help sort orders, or stay up all night on the phone with our suppliers overseas, I do it. It goes with the territory.” Simmi says, “We have a catch phrase around here: ‘GET IT DONE.’ We do everything we can to support our suppliers and satisfy our customers.”
Trust & Sales
Trust and Sales is a process driven by price, service, reliability, and accuracy. But under the guidance of President OJ Simpson, Stelfast has something else at work for it. All of the Stelfast branch managers explain the secret this way: “None of it happens without people.” They only agree to disagree about which branch has the best sales staff. They also agree that Stelfast sales teams are the kind that every sales manager strives for. The key, they feel, is that Stelfast first built a good company to attract good people. The rest simply followed.
As for the sales teams, the branch managers are proud to not have to manage them. “We trust them,” say the managers of the sales teams, who average over 20 years’ experience per branch. Team members all recognize that business is not about one sale or even one month of sales—it is about a long-term business relationship built on trust and doing the little things for customers. Stelfast customers work with certain salespeople because they enjoy—they trust—working with them. The branch managers concur on another thing. “The Stelfast slogan is Service you deserve. People you trust. That sums up our sales focus.”
Warehouse support
The warehouse team is well versed in the company’s customer service approach, as well. Ask any Stelfast warehouse manager: their customers are right down the hall. The Stelfast sales force represents the needs of its customers. Therefore, they need good information from their warehouse team. They need to know that there are no open-ended problems and that no promises go unmet. Stelfast’s warehouse operations can offer excellent pallet rates and outstanding incentive programs for freight. These things are geared at saving the customer a lot of money and still getting product there in the shortest amount of time
But how is Stelfast different? Simmi explains, “We realize that anybody can undersell. We have to show customers how we ensure that the product will be there when they want it. If someone from our sales team makes you that promise, you can be assured the Stelfast warehouse intends to keep it. The commitment— that’s a people and a trust thing.”
