Stelfast® EDI Datasheet

WHAT IS EDI?Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) is the exchange of business documents in a standard electronic format between "trading partners". EDI connects customers with Stelfast® in real time.

TRANSACTION SETSStelfast® EDI follows American National Standards Institute (ANSI) X.12 EDI Standards and supports the most commonly used "documents" used in the fastener industry.

830 – PLANNING SCHEDULE WITH RELEASE CAPABILITY The planning schedule transaction is similar to a blanket purchase order document. It may be used as a simple forecast or a forecast with the customers's authorization for the Stelfast® to commit to stock and release material based on the dates in the transaction set.

856 - ADVANCED SHIPPING NOTICE An 856 Advance Shipping Notice transaction is a notification of a pending delivery, similar to a packing list. The transaction will describe the contents and configuration of a shipment including item detail.

810 - INVOICEThe EDI 810 Invoice transaction set is the electronic version of the paper-based invoice document. The transaction will include invoice, shipping, and item details.

997 - FUNCTIONAL ACKNOWLEDGEMENT the 997 functional acknowledgement is sent as a response to other EDI transactions received. An EDI 997 serves as a receipt, acknowledging that your EDI transaction was received by Stelfast®.

STELFAST® TYPICAL EDI INSTALL PROCESS AND TIME ESTIMATEStelfast® has partnered with iConnect as our Value Added Network (VAN). Typically, when our customers request setup for EDI, a "TRADING PARTNER REQUEST" form is filled out by the customer (typically our customers have one of their own for Stelfast® to complete). We review the different transactions required and the customers EDI transaction documentation to ensure compatibility. Once we review the documentation, we typically take a couple weeks to setup the necessary transactions required between us and our partner. If the customer requires barcode labelling, the time necessary could be extended an extra two weeks depending on current workloads. Each transaction is tested and certified before moving communications to production systems.
